Etruscan Museum
Description
The National Archaeological Museum of Tuscania is housed in the former Franciscan convent of Santa Maria del Riposo founded in 1247 and exhibits the finds found during the archaeological investigations carried out in the area.
The collection includes, on the ground floor, the grave goods of the most important families who lived between the 4th and 2nd centuries BC: stone sarcophagi, ceramics, bronze vases, mirrors and female ornaments. On the first floor, three rooms exhibit materials from Etruscan tombs from the 7th-6th century BC, as well as sculptures in nenfro and terracotta; finally finds from the 5th-2nd century BC, including the box stone of Pian di Mola, overlooking a cremation burial, and the complex of terracotta sarcophagi from the tomb of the Treptie.
