Kurhaus
Description
The Kurhaus is a famous spa house in Wiesbaden, Germany. Today, it serves as a convention centre and social gathering place, featuring concert halls, a restaurant and the Wiesbaden Casino.
The original building was constructed in 1810 by Christian Zais. As Wiesbaden became a popular spa destination, a larger building was needed. The current Kurhaus was built between 1905 and 1907, designed by architect Friedrich von Thiersch. It was renovated in the 1980s.
The Kurhaus features Neoclassical architecture with Art Nouveau elements, including grand columns, decorative ceilings and a large dome. Its main concert hall seats 1,350 people.
Today, it remains an important cultural and event centre in Wiesbaden.
