Monastery converted to parish church. Very picturesque, the guide super friendly. You have to phone for an appointment. Explain everything. I recommend it

Like all ecclesiastical heritage. Closed. without caring Tables and junk hindering and insulting artistic works. Without any lighting. No historical reference inside or outside. A shame.

In the first place, the location is exceptional, it is located on the main street of the town, it is a road for many travelers and that attracts people. Place of tourist and historical interest, very large and spacious inside, what is "holy week" is painful things must be said, because Andalusia cannot be compared with this but well not bad

When you get to Meira and you see the facade of the church, you tell yourself how beautiful and she calls you, as if inviting you to enter. You go through the door and discover another era, an unknown story. If you go alone to see it, find out beforehand and you will enjoy it more.

Château de Foix

The Château de Foix dominates the town of Foix. An important tourist site, it is known as a centre of the Cathars. Built on an older 7th-century fortification, the castle is known from 987. In 1002, it was mentioned in the will of Roger I, Count of Carcassonne, who bequeathed the fortress to his youngest child, Bernard. In effect, the family ruling over the region were installed here which allowed them to control access to the upper Ariège valley and to keep surveillance from this strategic point over the lower land, protected behind impregnable walls.

In 1034, the castle became capital of the County of Foix and played a decisive role in medieval military history. During the two following centuries, the castle was home to Counts with shining personalities who became the soul of the Occitan resistance during the crusade against the Albigensians.
