We’ve been very pleased with our stay at Bilderberg Kasteel Vaalsbroek! The staff is very competent and extremely helpful and friendly. The amenities such as pool/sauna area are well kept and clean, the little bar is cute and cozy. The grounds at the chateau are beautiful, you can see that effort is being put in. The room is nice, we had a view on the stream that runs through the estate and the lake above, very relaxing. The breakfast was very generous, not a thing was missing! If I didn’t give 5 stars for the room it’s only because I couldn’t regulate the temperature myself and had to rince out the shower. A part from that it was a very nice experience!

My rings were stolen. I went to this hotel for 5 days on a work trip. On the second day I left my 3 rings in a glass in the bathroom. When I came back later that day 2 of my rings were missing. I thought I was going crazy and just misplaced them somewhere but I went to the reception to ask them if they saw or heard anything. They told me that they would ask the room cleaners in the morning. The next day I got a call to my room telling me they 'found' my rings and that I could pick them up at the reception. When I came there I instantly thought it was very suspicious because no one could explain to me how they turned up there and who 'found' them. I didn't like how they didn't explain at all so I went back and told them I would be needing a clear story of how this happened. The ladies at the reception told me that the room cleaners probably thought I would be leaving and the room would be vacant. (this is ridiculous as all my clothes and toiletries were spread out.) I told them that that doesn't make sense and they promised me to ask again on how it really happened. The next day I asked again hoping for the real story but the lady at the reception was really nervous and told me a nonsense story again. She said that the room cleaners dropped the glass where my rings were in and the rings went down the drain. So the plumber had to come to get them out and that's how they ended up at reception. That does not make sense at all. First of all, why did I have to go to reception to ask for my rings if this was true. Shouldn't they have let me know that this happened? Secondly, how did it take 3 days for this 'real' story to come out? There was no evidence of glass or water or my things being put to the side so a plumber could unscrew things. I think the room cleaners stole my rings and when I came asking for them they probably got a serious warning and returned them. Terrible experience and terrible service from the hotel on handling how it went down. Would not reccomend this hotel or always have the "do not dirturb" leaflet outside.

Lovely venue. It is being renovated at the moment. Facilities are great and I initially thought the bed too soft but slept like a baby.

Must see; must go, must experience This beautiful castle which was transformed into a hotel, has all the amenities one could dream of; spacious rooms, amazing view to wake up to; the lake, the swans and the vast green. The staff are super friendly and they are super pet friendly. As for the gastronomy, the breakfast is a big feast; which takes place at the dinner castle. We also tried the Bistro and the famous (IN DE OUDE WATERMOLEN), which served signature dishes from the region. The experience was unique, would recommend for starters; the deer pastrami and for main courses; the entrecôte beef, grilled and the redfishfillet dish. I don’t recommend the cauliflower starter Highly recommend and would do it again. If you are visiting Maastricht, you can stay at this hotel in the quiet oasis of luxury and drive to Maastricht to enjoy an Andre Rieu concert or go to Valkenburg to enjoy wonderful Christmas vibes in this charming town. Great hotel for couples and families. I would rate it 5 out of 5

I had a great stay in this location. Somewhere in the nowhere it was calm. The room had a propper size and the bed was really comfy. I stayed one night for a business trip, great breakfast and dinner in their restaurant as well as the buffet for lunch. The merting room in the old castle was great as well and we got a great supply of water, coffee and foodies. I can recommend this place and would also stay here privately. ?

Gravensteen

The Gravensteen is a castle in Ghent originating from the Middle Ages. The name means 'castle of the counts' in Dutch. Arnulf I (918–965), Count of Flanders, was the first to fortify this place, building a medieval bastion on this high sand dune, naturally protected by the river Leie and its marshy banks. This bastion consisted of a central wooden building and several surrounding buildings, also in wood.

In the early 11th century, the wooden building was replaced by a stone residence, consisting of three large halls that made up three storeys, connected by a stone stairwell. The monumental stone staircase, the light openings, the fireplaces built into the walls and the latrines were signs of considerable luxury and comfort in those days. There was probably also a tower.
