Hochperwarth Castle
Description
The ruinous remains of the walls of the fortified castle of Hochperwarth (12th century) are located 100 meters above the ruins of Perwarth Castle. The aristocratic owner of Hochperwarth, Baron Christoph von Concin, chose a more convenient location for the residential castle of Niederperwarth. This castle was built in 1561 and was one of the largest and most luxurious in the small Erlauftal valley! Well-known families such as Habsburg, Auersperg, Zinzendorf, von Fels etc. can be found among the lords of the castle.
The ruins are currently not open to the public, but interesting events are already taking place. In the future, the renovated part is to be made accessible to the public for culture and tourism.
